Songwriter's Diary ! A Jitterbug Tune
As a songwriter all my songs are special to me.Someone once said that your songs that you put out there are like your little babies. You nurture them from their conception and help them to grow and eventually they leave you to venture out into the big world themselves.Gotye had an amazing hit with his little song "Somebody that I used to know"I wonder if he ever realized that within a short period of time he would sell 14 million copies worldwide. This is what all songwriters dream of ,the ability to touch the hearts of millions people and to be well rewarded for their hard work after many years. I have been writing songs for over 30 years from pop songs to musical comedy and soul funk.I have appeared on many national television shows over the years but sadly have never had a publisher or any record companies looking to promote my music .....well I have but the deals were terrible and I probably would have given my songs away. It's been a struggle to be forever self promoting my music .I have had several near successes with the National Tribute to Princess Diana "Shine Your Light" in 1997 a heartfelt ballad written the day of Diana's tragic death and played across Australia with great CD sales mainly given to charity but I've always wanted to have several songs out there creating an income for me through movies and television as well as being covered by other established artists. Anyway I recently joined Taxi, the songwriters A&R website that sends out hundreds of leads per year for specific projects worldwide and I've had a few songs accepted by overseas companies. So now it is the waiting game to see if there is a suitable movie, television program or established artist who may rerecord my song. Well I saw a brief on taxi for a Jitterbug dance song needed for a 1940's style movie and decided to send in my song and to my excitement they accepted it and now it is pending for placement in an American movie. So I am waiting with fingers crossed for a placement in film.It could be a month,a year or even two years but at least I'm in through the door.So here is my Jitterbug style song for you it's called
